DefJam Fight for NY.

This game is in my opinion one of the greatest fighting games on the market. Its fast, lots of time to spend creating your own fighter with 5 different fighting styles which includes:

Street Fighting, Kickboxing, Submission, Wrestling and Martial Arts.

The storyline could be better, but with the gameplay, graphics and characters in the game, who really needs a great story?

And thats not all, the music in the game is performed by the characters you fight against or with. And some of the biggest names in the game includes:

Snoop Dogg, Ice-T, Fat Joe, Ludacris, Xzibit, Lil' Kim and Carmen Electra.
(All characters with their own voices).

Hints

Chapter 1: MY PERSONAL COMBINED FIGHTING STYLES.

OBS
: Must be put in the order shown

1.) Street Fighting
2.) Martial Arts
3.) Submission

Above styles will give you great speed and power, a bomb of a fighter.

1.) Martial Arts
2.) Street Fighting
3.) Kickboxing

Above styles are great if you like to use kicks and fast hits for reversing grapples.

1.) Kickboxing

Yes, there are no 2 & 3 in this one because Kickboxing alone is great for speed, power and hard grapples.

More to come when I have tested a few more, so stay tuned or subscribe to my newsletter for updates.

Chapter 2: Hints for DVP upgrades.

I have found it very good to do the whole Foundation Venue before adding the points. And if you're an experienced player you can do the entire Limit Venue as well before adding the DVPs.

What I have done is, after doing the Foundation Venue and/or Limit venue, I have put all the DVPs on Speed. And after taking the Tournament at Syn Energy (The power plant) I have put all the points from there to Upper & Lower power, devided equally.
Then I have taken the entire Babylon Venue without adding the DVPs till after fighting Sean Paul. I have added those points to Toughness and Health, also devided equally.

After the Babylon Venue comes a pretty tough fight against Fat "Crack" Joe. But here is a little hint to be on top of the fight "Punch, punch, punch, punch" Keep on punching (put some kicks in for more points, but be careful, because he blocks and reverse a lot on the kicks and grapples).

If you wish to add a new style after fighting Trejo at the Train Station, now is the time, you have enough points, and the coming fights are not all that hard.

After the Club Murder fight against Fat Joe and the Trainstation fight against Trejo, you can choose between the Tournament at the Scrap Yard and The Terror Dome. I usually start out with Terror Dome, just to get some extra DVPs.

Hints for "The Terror Dome":

Dan G.

Be very careful with grapples and kicks. This guy is the master of reversals. You have to plan you attacks carefully. There is no specific technique defeating this guy. Wait till he does his Taunts, and then attack with power hits or kicks. He will, I repeat, he will reverse almost all grapples, so now you're warned!

Baxter.

This guy is annoying. He Taunts and do Grapples most of the fight, so I hope you have mastered the reversals and hard grapples. The walls can be your best friend or your worst enemy in this fight. Be warned though, he will most likely annoy the sh!t out of you with his reversals on your grapples.

Crazy Legs.

His name says it all. This guy is fast, strong and also the master of reversals. He will mostly attack with his jumping moves and technique simulating Capoeira. Defence is your best offence in this fight.

Success! You finished The Terror Dome.

After The Terror Dome Venue, you can go and add the DVPs you have deserved. Or you can do what I tend to do. Tournament at the Scrap Yard.

Hints for Hunt's Point Scrap Yard:

Free for All Tournament: My only 3 hints for this place is to stay back and attack with weapons and hard grapples.

After Hunt's Point you can go add points if you wish, or go to one of the 3 places which includes:

Team Tournament at the Chop Shop: Winning price is an SUV for winning all 5 team fights. You can choose Ice-T or Omar Epps to partner up with before match start. (I prefer Omar Epps)

The Foundation (Free for All Tournament) 1 round, 3 opponents

Syn Energy (Venue). The 4 opponents: Bless, Havoc, Rome and the last I will let you see for yourself.

You choose yourself where to go, I usually head for the SUV and large sum of money plus DVPs at the Team Tournament at the Chop Shop.

If decided to take the Chop Shop Team Tournament. You will now have a lot of DVP's to spend on whatever you want. New style, new moves or as I prefer, add some power, speed and health to your fighter.
(The moves are mostly for entertainment this early in the game. Later there will be better moves dealing more damage. But for the high prize of 2500DVP).

This was all I had to share about the Development Points. By now you know how you want your fighter. Hope it gave you some sort of a guideline for the first amount of DVP.
